The playoff race is heating up and today we had our first 3 homer game from a player and another game that had a walk off. We also had our first two teams clinch playoff spots. Not only do we have teams duking it out to get into the playoffs but we also have a battle at the top of the standings for the number 1 seed and the two first round byes. Should be a fun last couple of days. Let's take a look. Phil's Red Sox 8 Justin's Mariners 2Phil got 3 homers today from his man crush Bryce Harper and the loss puts Justin's Mariners in a tough spot being 2 games out of a playoff spot with only 3 games left. Harper got the scoring started with his first homer of the game in the 1st inning but Giancarlo Stanton tied it in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer of his own. The Mariners had the lead in the 2nd inning after an Andrew McCutchen solo homer but that would be the last run they would score. Harpers 2nd homer was a 2 run shot in the 5th to give the Red Sox the lead and he homered again in a 5 run 8th inning to put the game away. The win gives the Red Sox the sweep in the season series against the Mariners. Billy's Orioles 6 Bharath's Angels 5This game was easily the game of the day. Billy's team has surged up the standings in the 2nd half and that continued to day in the victory over Bharath's Angels. The Angels got the lead in the 1st inning on a Joey Gallo solo homer but the Orioles got that run back in the 1st on a Jorge Soler RBI single. The Orioles got 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 4-1 lead on RBI doubles from Marcus Semien and Brandon Lowe. Aardon Judge hit a 2 run homer in the top of the 5th and Carlos Santana hit a RBI single in the top of the 6th to tie the game. The Orioles got the lead right back in the bottom of the inning on a solo homer from Wilson Ramos. The Orioles turned it over to Yusmeiro Petit in the 9th inning but Aaron Judge hit his second homer of the game to tie it. In the bottom of the inning Marcus Semien walked off the victory with a solo homer. Despite the loss the Angels did clinch a playoff berth. The win gives the Orioles the split in the season series with the Angels. Eddy's Royals 8 Tom's Blue Jays 5Eddy's Royals got a bunch of runs from his offense in a much needed victory to stay a game back in the playoff hunt. Tom's Blue Jays got the scoring started with a Nick Senzel solo homer in the 1st inning. In the bottom of the inning Anthony Rendon hit a grand slam and Max Muncy added a solo shot to give the Royals a 5-1 lead. Christian Yelich added a 2 run homer to extend the lead to 7-1. The Blue Jays fought back with a Howie Kendrick RBI double and a Miguel Sano 3 run homer to cut the lead to 7-5 but Mookie Betts added a solo homer in the 6th for insurance. Aaron Bummer got into trouble in the 9th inning with 1st and 2nd and nobody out but he retired Goodrum, Calhoun, and Tatis Jr. to preserve the win. The win gives the Royals the split in the season series with the Blue Jays. Daren's Astros 2 Degaglia's Yankees 1Gerritt Cole may have left for the Yankees in real life but he gave the Astros a great pitching performance and shutdown Degalgia's Yankees for the victory to stay one game out of a playoff spot. The Yankees started the scoring in the 3rd inning with an Eloy Jimenez RBI double but J.T. Realmuto hit his own RBI double in the bottom of the inning to tie it. Cody Bellinger hit a solo homer in the 6th inning to give the Astros and Cole the lead. The Yankees had their best chance in the 8th with 1st and 3rd and nobody out but Nick Anderson struck out Yordan Alvarez and Hector Neris came on to get Austin Meadows to ground into a double play to end the threat. Despite the loss the Yankees have clinched a playoff berth. The win gives the Astros the split in the season series with the Yankees. Prior's Tigers 8 Josh's White Sox 2After the earlier losses from the Yankees and Angels the Tigers came into this game with a chance to climb within a game of bye and that's what they did. The loss is a tough one for Josh's White Sox who are now 2 games out with 3 games left to play. The Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a Rafael Devers RBI double and Mitch Garver 2 run homer. Michael Conforto added a 3 run homer in the 3rd to double the lead. Eugenio Suarez hit a 2 run homer for the White Sox to get them on the board. Bryan Reynolds and Francisco Lindor hit RBI doubles in the 9th to close out the victory. The win gives the Tigers the sweep in the season series against the White Sox. Jon's Indians 5 Chris's Twins 2This game had the biggest impact on the playoff standings today as the two teams came into the game tied for the last playoff spots. Jon's Indians came out on top thanks to a solid start from Charlie Morton. The Indians got out to a 3-0 lead thanks to RBI hits from Michael Brantley, Jeff McNeil, and Tommy Pham. Yasiel Puig hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 5th to cut into the lead. Justin Turner hit a 2 run homer to add insurance runs in the top of the 9th. In the bottom of the 9th Yasiel Puig hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-2 and had 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs but Hansel Robles got Omar Navares to fly out to end the game.
