We are in the final days of the regular season and still have a couple of playoff spots an a bye up for grabs. Tomorrow will be our last game of the regular season and almost every game has some sort of playoff implications. But first let's take a look at what happened today. Phil's Red Sox 4 Tom's Blue Jays 0Phil's squad needed the victory to clinch a playoff spot and were able to do that thanks to a complete game shutout from Madison Bumgarner. Bryce Harper got Bumgarner the lead with a sac fly in the 3rd inning and that's all the offense that he needed. Matt Chapman, Buster Posey, and Carlos Correa added RBI singles as insurance. The win gives the Red Sox the split in the season series with the Blue Jays. Degaglia's Yankees 11 Bharath's Angels 4We had a battle of the two teams tied at the top of the standings and it was Degaglia's Yankees coming out on top and clinching a first round bye. The Yankees got to Clevinger quickly in the first inning with 5 runs on George Springer and Manny Machado RBI hits and another homer from the red hot Yordan Alvarez homer. Alvarez added his 4th RBI of the game in the 3rd inning on a RBI Single. The Angels got a two homer game from Aaron Judge but couldn't keep up with Yankees tacking on runs throughout the game. The win give the Yankees the split in the season series with the Angels. Justin's Mariners 4 Prior's Tigers 2Prior's Tigers is battling for a bye week and ran into a tough loss against Justin's Mariners. The Tigers got a lead in the first inning on a Charlie Blackmon RBI double but Giancarlo Stanton tied it with a sac fly in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers regained the lead with a bases loaded walk in the 2nd inning but were unable to cash in anymore runs with that bases loaded 1 out opportunity. The Mariners took the lead in the 3rd on a Matt Olson 2 run single and added insurance with a Corey Seager sac fly in the 5th. The win gives the Mariners the sweep in the season series against the Tigers. Eddy's Royals 3 Chris's Twins 2Both teams entered this game needing a victory to stay in contention for the playoffs and it was Eddy's Royals who got the walk off victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Twins got an Austin Riley solo homer in the 5th inning and a Yasiel Puig RBI double in the 6th inning to take a 2-0 lead. Anthony Rendon cut the lead to 2-1 with a RBI single in the 8th. The game looked to be over but with 2 outs Scott Oberg put two men on and then gave up a walk off 2 run triple to Mookie Betts to end the game. The win gives the Royals the sweep in the season series against the Twins. Daren's Astros 6 Josh's White Sox 2Daren's Astros struggled in the first half but rode another great outing from Gerrit Cole to get the victory and in control of their playoff destiny. Nolan Arenado got the Astros started with a RBI single in the first inning but Eugenio Suarez tied it with a solo shot in the 2nd. The Astros got the lead right back with a Gleybar Torres solo homer and a J.T. Realmuto RBI double. Jose Abreu added a RBI hit in the 3rd to extend the lead to 4-1. Francisco Mejia cut the lead to 4-2 in the 5th inning with a RBI single but Shoehi Ohtani put the game away with a 2 run double in the 7th inning. The win gives the Astros the split in the season series with the White Sox. Jon's Indians 4 Billy's Orioles 3Both teams came into this game tied for the final playoff spots and it was Jon's Indians who got the win and gives them control of their playoff destiny. Billy's Orioles got the lead in the first inning on an Anthony Rizzo bases loaded walk but weren't able to tack on more runs in the inning. Rizzo hit a RBI double in the 3rd inning to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Javier Baez homered in the 4th and Justin Turner hit a RBI single in the 5th to tie the game. In the 6th inning, Jeff McNeil hit a 2 run homer to give the Indians the lead. The Orioles cut it to 4-3 on a Jorge Soler RBI double but were unable to get anything going in the 8th and 9th innings.
