Day 5 is in the books. We had a couple of big innings that decided a couple of games and also a couple of stellar pitching performances as well as close games. Let's see what happened! Phil's Red Sox 5 Daren's Astros 0Justin Verlander had the pitching performance of the day and Daren's Astros offensive struggles continued as the Red Sox got the shutout victory 5-0. Trea Turner got Verlander the lead in the second inning with a 2 out 2 run double and the Red Sox added a couple of insurance runs late to seal the victory. Eddy's Royals 11 Josh's White Sox 4Eddy's offense flexed its muscles today hitting 4 homers. Mookie Betts led the game off with a solo shot. The Royals blew the game open in the 4th inning with 7 runs, capped off by an Anthony Rendon 3 run homer. Every bat in the Royals offense got a hit in the game to support Zach Eflin who had his second consecutive quality start and win. Chris's Twins 9 Billy's Orioles 7Chris's Twins lead the league in scoring going into the game and they tacked on a bunch more today. Kyle Schwarber opened the scoring for Billy's Orioles with a solo homer in the 2nd inning but Miguel Andjuar hit his first of 2 homers on the day in the bottom of the inning and tied it. The Twins got out to a 9-2 lead thanks to a 3 run double by Yasiel Puig, a 3 run homer from Andujar, and Pete Alonso hitting his first homer on the season. Billy's Orioles fought back with 5 runs in the 8th and 9th innings but Scott Oberg got Jorge Soler to ground out with the bases loaded in the 9th to end the game and preserve the victory. Jon's Indians 9 Justin's Mariners 8This matchup takes home game of the day honors. Walker Buehler had a 6-1 lead going into the 7th thanks to back to back homers in the bottom of the 5th from Justin Turner and Michael Brantley. In the top of the 7th Buehler got into trouble and Joe Jimenez didn't make it any better. Joey Votto and Mark Canha each hit 3 run home runs in the top of the 7th to give Justin's Mariners a 8-6 lead. That lead didn't last for long because in the bottom of the 7th Jeff McNeil got a RBI double and Josh Donaldson hit a 2 run homer to give the Indians the lead and the victory. Prior's Tigers 7 Bharath's Angels 3Bharath's Angels gave Jacob deGrom a 2-0 lead thanks to Joey Gallo and Kris Bryant each hitting solo homers. deGrom couldn't get out of the 4th inning and got hit hard. Prior's Tigers got a 2 run double from Rafael Devers, a 2 run triple from Cavan Biggio, and the final dagger a 3 run homer from Francisco Lindor. Aaron Nola worked in and out of trouble but was able to get it to the bullpen to close out the victory. Degaglia's Yankees 4 Tom's Blue Jays 3This game was another close one and it looked like Tommy was going to get his first win on the season. Miguel Sano opened the scoring for the Blue Jays in the top of the 3rd inning with a 2 run homer. Degaglia got a solo homer from Gary Sanchez and a RBI single from Jose Altuve to tie it. In the top of the 8th, Degaglia's former prospect Nick Senzel hit a RBI double to give Tommy the lead.
