We are half way through the first set of matchups. Tommy got on the board with his first victory and we also had the two teams tied for first place doing battle. Today probably was the record so far on the amount of home runs hit in a single day. Let's take a look! Phil's Red Sox 7 Eddy's Royals 3Justin Verlander was shaky for Phil's Sox giving up 3 runs in the first 4 innings. Jose Ramirez took him deep twice on solo shots and Anthony Rendon added a RBI double. The Red Sox offense woke up with back to back homers from Matt Chapman and Buster Posey in the bottom of the 3rd to tie. it. Trea Turner came through with a 2 run double in the bottom of the 5th to give Verlander the lead that he and the bullpen finished. Chapman hit his second homer on the day to add insurance and take home player of the game honors. Daren's Astros 10 Billy's Orioles 3One of the early stories to this season has been Daren's Astro squad struggling offensively. That ended today. Billy got the lead early with a 1st inning solo homer from Josh Bell. After that it was all Astros. J.T. Realmuto hit a pair of 2 run homers and Mike Trout hit is first home run of the simulated season. Billy got solo shots from Kyle Schwarber and Wilson Ramos but it wasn't enough to match Daren's big day. Justin's Mariners 5 Josh's White Sox 1Stephen Strasburg was shaky early but was able to get through the first couple innings with limited damage and then got the run support he needed to get the victory for Justin's Mariner squad. Lourdes Gurriel hit a tying home run in the 3rd inning and Giancarlo Stanton and Matt Olson each hit a two run homer to support Strasburg. Bharath's Angels 6 Chris's Twins 1Jacob deGrom bounced back from his last start where he gave up 7 runs and was able to shutdown the leagues highest scoring team to earn the victory. The Angels got a solo shot from Joey Gallo in the first inning and had a 5 run bottom of the second which featured Aaron Judge's first homer of the season. Dinelson Lamet struggled early after having a couple of quality starts. Tom's Blue Jays 4 Jon's Indians 3Tom's Blue Jays earned their first victory of the season with some late game drama. The Blue Jays started the game with a lead in the first inning thanks to a Justin Smoak RBI single. The Indians got the lead thanks to a 2 run single from Javier Baez and DJ sac fly. Kyle Tucker hit his first homer of the season in the bottom of the 5th to cut the lead to 1. Brandon Workman came on in the 8th inning for the Indians and walked Miguel Sano and then gave up the game winning 2 run home run to Daniel Vogelbach. Degaglia's Yankees 5 Prior's Tigers 4The game of the day belongs to the two teams that were tied for first place going into the day. All 9 runs came on home runs and it was the home town Yankees that came out on top. Paul Goldschmidt started the scoring with a 2 run homer in the first inning but the red hot Xander Bogaerts hit his own 2 run shot in the bottom of the 2nd to tie it. The Yankees also got home runs from Yordan Alvarez and Gary Sanchez. Prior's Tigers fought back with solo shots from Rafael Devers and Mitch Garver. Carlos Martinez gave up a single and walked a batter in the 9th but got the next three guys to strike out to give the Yankees their 5th straight victory.
