Another day in the books. We saw win streaks continue and we saw ace pitchers pitch exactly like the aces that they are. As we get closer to the mid point of the season we are starting to see teams separate from the pack but things are still really bunched up. Let's take a look at the days results. Phil's Red Sox 3 Bharath's Angels 0This pitching matchup lived up to the hype. Jacob deGrom was the hard luck loser only giving up 1 run in 7 innings on a Miguel Cabrera RBI single. The Angels had their best chance of the day in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they had 1st and 3rd with nobody out but Verlander got Aaron Judge, Joey Gallo, and Yasmani Grandal to all strike out to end the threat. The Red Sox got a 2 run homer from Bryce Harper in the 8th inning off of Keone Kela to seal the victory and complete game shutout for Verlander. Justin's Mariners 10 Tom's Blue Jays 1Like the aces in the previous matchup, Stephen Strasburg was dominant. Andrew McCutchen hit a 3 run double in the bottom of the 5th inning and that's all the offense Strasburg needed. Joey Votto added a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 7th and in the bottom of the 8th the Mariners got 2 run hits from Lourdes Gurriel and Giancarlo Stanton to blow the game open. Strasburg's quest for a shutout ended in the 9th thanks to a Fernando Tatis Jr. solo homer. Degaglia's Yankees 6 Billy's Orioles 3If it wasn't for an opening day loss we would be talking about how Degaglia is undefeated. Carols Carrasco put up another great start to lead his Yankee squad to their 8th straight victory. The Yankees got out to a 6-0 lead thanks to a Yordan Alvarez sol homer and RBI hits from Austin Meadows and George Springer. Billy's Orioles fought back with Kyle Schwarber hitting a solo homer in the 7th and 2 run shot in the 8th inning. They had the tying run at the plate with men on first and second but Carlos Martinez got Josh Bell to fly out to end the game. Eddy's Royals 8 Prior's Tigers 4Zach Eflin has really been hit or miss the first half of the season. Today was a hit as he was able to go 7 innings only allowing 3 runs for the victory. The Royals got out to a quick lead thanks to a Christian Yelich RBI single and a 2 run double from Freddie Freeman. Freeman also hit a two run double in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 5-0. Cavan Biggio has been hot for Prior's Tigers as he hit a 3 run homer in the 7th to cut the lead to 5-3. Eddy got insurance thanks to a 3 run homer from Jose Ramirez in the bottom of the 8th to put the game away. Jon's Indians 7 Daren's Astros 2This was a close game late but once again Daren's bullpen let him down late. The Indians got on the board in the 4th inning when Josh Donaldson and Starling Marte went back to back. Walker Buehler worked out of trouble in the bottom of the 5th when he got out of bases loaded 1 out trouble by striking out Mike Trout and J.T. Realmuto. Realmuto and Nolan Arenado got the Astros on the board in the bottom of the 8th with RBI hits but in the top of the 9th the Indians got RBI hits from Michael Brantley and Wilson Contreras to put the game out of reach. Chris's Twins 8 Josh's White Sox 5While this day featured a bunch of stellar performances from aces, we had one dud in Zach Greinke. Greinke couldn't get out of the first inning giving up 7 runs to Chris's offense. In the first inning the Twins got a 2 run single from Juan Soto, a 2 run homer from Pete Alonso and a 3 run triple from Amed Rosario. The White Sox battled back with homers from Eddie Rosario, Khris Davis, Alex Bregman, and Marcell Ozuna but the deficit was too much to overcome.
