After today there is only a week worth of regular season games left. The playoff race is heating up and we had a couple of really exciting game today that will determine who does and doesn't make the playoffs. Let's take a look! Phil's Red Sox 6 Josh's White Sox 5If it wasn't for another game later in the day this would have been my pick for game of the day. Phil's Red Sox got 6 scoreless innings from Madison Bumgarner and entered the bottom of the 7th with a 4-0 lead behind RBI hits from Bryce Harper, Buster Posey, and Trea Turner. Carlos Correa continued his amazing season with another home run as well. In the bottom of the 7th the White Sox offense came alive with Yoan Moncada hitting a 2 run homer. In the bottom of the 8th Marcell Ozuna hit a go ahead 3 run homer. Liam Hendricks came on for the save but gave up a game tying solo homer to Andrew Benintendi. Adam Eaton pinch hit for Aaron Hicks and delivered the game winning RBI single. The White Sox had a chance to tie the game in the 9th when they had 1st and 3rd with one out but unlike the previous day Kenley Jansen got the job done getting Alex Bregman and Eugenio Suarez both to line out to end the game. The win gives the Red Sox the split in the season series with the White Sox. Chris's Twins 4 Daren's Astros 3This game also could have been the game of the day. Both Robbie Ray and Gerrit Cole weren't at their sharpest but it was Ray's Twins who were able to get the job done. Juan Soto opened the scoring in the 3rd with a RBI single. J.T. Realmuto has been the most consistent bat for the Astros, hit a 3 run homer in the 5th to give the Astros the lead. Omar Navares hit game tying 2 run homer in the bottom of the 6th. We didn't have any scoring till the 9th when Kevin Newman hit a walk off RBI single to give the Twins the win. The win also gives the Twins the split in the season series with the Astros. Eddy's Royals 6 Jon's Indians 2Jon's Indians have gotten runs early in games but haven't been able to tack on runs and it happened again today in the loss to Eddy's Royals. Eddy got 6 quality innings from Max Fried and the Royals offense was able to get to the Indians bullpen to put the game away. Josh Donaldson gave the Indians the lead with a 2 run homer in the first inning. Freddie Freeman hit a solo shot in the second and the Royals got RBI hits from Ketel Marte, Max Muncy, and Anthony Rendon en route to the victory. The wins gives the Royals the sweep in the season series against the Indians. Billy's Orioles 10 Prior's Tigers 8 F/10This game was my choice for game of the day due to the back and forth scoring, comebacks, and extra innings. The Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning thanks to a 2 run double from Charlie Blackmon and a RBI single from Paul Goldschmidt. Kyle Schwarber seems to homer just about every day and he hit another today in the second inning to cut the lead to 3-2. Paul Goldschmidt homered in the 4th but Wilson Ramos answered with a 2 run homer in the 5th. Marcus Semien and Josh Bell went back to back in the 7th inning to give the Orioles a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, the Tigers got a 2 run double from Cavan Biggio and RBI singles from Brian Reynolds and Michael Conforto to take the lead. Josh Bell led off the 9th inning against Kirby Yates with a solo homer to tie the game and send it to extras. In the 10th inning Ronald Acuna and Semien each got RBI hits to lead the Orioles to victory. The win gives the Orioles the split in the season series with the Tigers. Degaglia's Yankees 4 Justin's Mariners 2It looks like Degaglia's Yankees are on another win streak. Jose Altuve led of the game for the Yankees with a solo homer and Eloy Jimenez added a RBI double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. The Mariners tied it in the 6th inning with RBI hits from Corey Seager and Andrew McCutchen. Jeff Samardzija came on in relief for Lucas Giolito and pitched 2 perfect innings. Xander Bogaerts continued to swing his hot bad and hit the game winning 2 run homer in the 6th inning. The win gives the Yankees the sweep in the season series against the Mariners. Bharath's Angels 3 Tom's Blue Jays 1This game was a pitchers duel but Mike Clevinger was better than Julio Urias which gave the win to the Angels. The Angels got a RBI triple from Yasmani Grandal and a sac fly from Joey Gallo to give them an early lead. The Twins cut into the lead in the 6th inning on a Miguel Sano solo shot. Nelson Cruz hit a RBI single in the 8th for insurance and Josh Hader came on and closed out the victory. The win gives the Angels the sweep in the season series against the Blue Jays. We are getting closer and closer to the playoffs and the race is heating up. We had some great pitching performance and another walk off victory. Let's see what happened today and what the playoff race looks like when the day is over. Phil's Red Sox 6 Chris's Twins 5This game had the most excitement and was easily the game of the day. Prior to the season Phil traded Trevor Story for Carlos Correa. If the virtual simulations are proving anything its that it was a great move after another great game from Correa in a Red Sox victory. Correa started the scoring in the first with a solo homer but the Twins got on the board in the second with Yasiel Puig hitting a solo homer and Ahmed Rosario hitting a RBI double. Matt Chapman hit a solo shot in the 6th to tie the game. Correa hit his second homer of the game in the bottom of the 7th to give the Red Sox a 4-2 lead. Juan Soto hit a solo shot to cut the lead to 1 in the 8th but Aaron Hicks hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th to make it a 6-3 lead. Kenley Jansen got into a lot of trouble in the 9th giving up a solo shot to Austin Riley and a RBI single to Juan Soto. Sean Doolittle came on with the bases loaded and got Miguel Andujar to fly out to end the game. The win gives the Red Sox the split in the season series with the Twins. Josh's White Sox 6 Jon's Indians 0Trevor Bauer had the pitching performance of the day with a complete game shutout which Josh's White Sox needed in the playoff race. The game was scoreless till the 5th inning when Yoan Moncada hit a 2 run double and Whit Merrifield hit a 2 run homer. Edwin Encarnacion added a 2 run homer in the 7th inning to extend the lead and put the game away. The win gives the White Sox the sweep in the season series against the Indians. Prior's Tigers 4 Daren's Astros 2The story of this game was stranding runners on base. Both teams had bases loaded opportunities but weren't able to cash in but in the end the Tigers got enough runners in to earn the victory. Nolan Arenado flew out with the bases loaded in the 3rd and 7th innings but the Astros were able to get on the board in the 5th inning thanks to a 2 run double from Cody Bellinger. Gerrit Cole got into trouble in the top of the 8th and Hector Neris couldn't get out of it giving up 3 runs on a Paul Goldschmidt RBI single and Rafael Devers 2 run homer. In the top of the 9th Victor Robles hit a RBI single to add insurance and close out the victory. The win gives the Tigers the sweep in the season series against the Astros. Degaglia's Yankees 7 Eddy's Royals 4Degaglia's Yankees got behind early but their MVP candidate Xander Bogaerts came to the rescue. Ketel Marte got the scoring started with solo shot in the bottom of the 1st but Trevor Story hit a solo shot in the top of the 5th to tie it. The Royals went up 3-1 after a 2 run single by Christian Yelich in the bottom of the inning. Bogaerts hit a go ahead grand slam in the top of the 6th to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead. George Springer added insurance with a 2 run homer in the 9th. The Royals made a comeback with Ketel Marte up with the tying run at the plate but he grounded into a double play to end the game. The win gives the Yankees the sweep in the season series against the Royals. Billy's Orioles 2 Tom's Blue Jays 1This was another game with stranded runners and it looked as though we were going to get an extra inning affair. Both starters got knocked out of the game early with high pitch counts but the bullpens kept the game tied. Daniel Vogelbach hit a RBI single in the 3rd for the Jays and Kyle Schwarber had a sac fly to tie the game for the Orioles in the 4th. In the bottom of the 9th Mike Moustakas hit a walk off homer to give Billy's Orioles the victory. The win gives the Orioles the sweep in the season series against the Blue Jays. Bharath's Angels 7 Justin's Mariners 2The Angels got out to a 7-0 lead and Mike Clevinger dominated early to give the Angels the win. Yasmani Grandal hit a 3 run homer in the 1st inning and Aaron Judge hit a 2 run homer in a 4 run second inning. The Mariners got on the board in the 8th with RBI singles from Giancarlo Stanton and Mark Canha but that's all they could get offensively. The win gives the Angels the split in the season series with the Mariners. StandingsTomorrow's MatchupsPhil's Red Sox (Bumgarner) @ Josh's White Sox (Bauer)
Daren's Astros (Cole) @ Chris's Twins (Ray) Eddy's Royals (Fried) @ Jon's Indians (Morton) Billy's Orioles (Lynn) @ Prior's Tigers (Paddack) Justin's Mariners (Kluber) @ Degaglia's Yankees (Giolito) Bharath's Angels (Clevinger) @ Tom's Blue Jays (Urias) The second half of the season is officially the playoff hunt. Everything is close and it's really anyone ball game to make it into the top 6. Degaglia's Yankees are separating from the pack a little bit but that could all change. Today we had multi homer games from a couple of guys and a bunch of good pitching performances. Let's take a look. Jon's Indians 5 Phil's Red Sox 1This game was the Javy Baez show. Baez has been quiet for the most part during this season but he woke up today in support of Charlie Morton who pitched 7 strong innings for the win. Baez started the scoring in the first inning with a sac fly and also added a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 3rd. Carlos Correa got on the board for Phil and the Sox with a solo shot but Baez answered right back with his second homer of the game. The win gives the Indians the sweep of the season series with the Red Sox. Prior's Tigers 3 Chris's Twins 2This was a close game throughout and a pitchers duel but in the end Prior's Tigers came out on top. Chris's Twins started the game with a Juan Soto 2 run homer in the first inning but that would be the only offense they would get. In the bottom of the 3rd Mitch Garver hit a solo homer and in the bottom of the 6th he tied it with a RBI single. Brian Reynolds worked a bases loaded walk in the inning but the Tigers weren't able to get anymore runs in the inning. The Twins put Kirby Yates in a tough situation with men on 1st and 3rd with one out but Yates got Yasiel Puig to pop up and struck out Austin Riley to save the game. The win gives the Tigers the season sweep against the Twins. Degaglia's Yankees 9 Josh's White Sox 4Josh's White Sox had opportunities early in this game but couldn't cash in and then Degaglia's potent offense got to work and secured the win. The White Sox had bases loaded in the first inning with nobody out but were unable to get any runs in the inning. Manny Machado opened the scoring in the 3rd inning with a 2 run homer and Gary Sanchez hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead. The Yankees got 4 runs in the 6th thanks to RBI hits from Sanchez and George Springer. The White Sox battled back with 4 runs late but the lead was too big to overcome. The win gives the Yankees the season series sweep against the White Sox. Daren's Astros 2 Tom's Blue Jays 0This game was pitchers duel between Gerrit Cole and Julio Urias but only 2 mistakes were the difference in this game in the Astros victory. Urias pitched great only allowing 1 run over 6 innings but that one run, a solo homer from Gleyber Torres in the 1st inning, was the difference. Cole pitched 8 scoreless innings and in the top of the 9th he got insurance from a Jose Abreu solo homer. The win gives the Astros the season series sweep against the Blue Jays. Bharath's Angels 7 Eddy's Royals 1Bharath's Angels got out to a big lead early and that was enough for Mike Clevinger, who shut down the Royals offense for the victory. The Angels got out to a 5-0 lead thanks to RBI hits from Mitch Haniger, Dee Gordon, and Eduardo Escobar. Max Muncy hit a solo shot in the top of the 4th but that's all the offense they would get. Emilio Pagan pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief of Clevinger to get the 9 out save. The win gives the Angels the season series sweep over they Royals. Justin's Mariners 7 Billy's Orioles 6This game was Giancarlo Stanton's coming out party. He has been relatively quiet through the virtual season but hit 2 homers and drove in 5 runs in this game. He started the scoring in the 3rd inning with his first homer and he and Matt Olson went back to back in the 5th inning to give the Mariners a 7-0 lead. The game looked like it was over but the Orioles battled back. Kyle Schwarber homered in a 4 run 7th inning to cut into the lead. In the 8th inning Josh Bell got a RBI single. Kyle Schwarber was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to cut the lead to 7-6 but Mike Moustakas and Brandon Lowe but struck out to end the threat and give the Mariners the victory. The win gives the Mariners the split in the season series against the Orioles. StandingsTomorrow's MatchupsChris's Twins (Ray) @ Phil's Red Sox (Bumgarner)

We also saw some new offensive players get on the board as some lineups changed with some of the SP2s being southpaws. Let's take a look. Prior's Tigers 4 Phil's Red Sox 3One of the new offensive bats I mentioned above was Vlad Guerrero Jr. and he left his mark on this game and helped Prior's Tigers get the victory. Vlad started the game with a RBI single in the 1st inning and Paul Goldschmidt hit a sac fly in the 3rd to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. The Yankees got the scoring started in the 3rd inning when Austin Meadows homered. Jon's Indians answered right back with 2 run homer from Starling Marte but that would be the only runs they would score. J.D. Martinez homered in the 4th and added a sac fly in the 5th to give the Yankees the lead for good. Manny Machado added a homer in the 7th. The win gives the Yankees the split in the season series with the Indians. Chris's Twins 4 Tom's Blue Jays 1One inning was all the offense that Robbie Ray and Chris's Twins needed to secure the victory. In the bottom of the 4th Omar Navares got a sac fly, Amed Rosario hit a RBI singe, and Ramon Laureano capped off the inning with a 2 run double to give the Twins a 4-0 lead. In the 9th inning, the Blue Jays loaded the bases on Gio Gonzalez with nobody out but Scott Oberg game on and only gave up a RBI groundout to Willie Calhoun. He then struck out Garret Hampson and Fernando Tatis Jr. to save the game for the Twins. The win gives the Twins the season series sweep against the Blue Jays. Josh's White Sox 2 Bharath's Angels 1 F/11Former Cleveland Indians teammates Mike Clevinger and Trevor Bauer faced off and each went 6 innings only allowing 1 run each. Alex Bregman got the game started in the first inning with a RBI double but Joc Pederson hit a solo shot in 3rd inning to tie the game. Neither team could get much going from there but Josh's White Sox got a walk off homer in the 11th inning from Eugenio Suarez off of Sean Manaea to secure the win. The win gives the White Sox the split in the season series against the Angels. Daren's Astros 12 Justin's Mariners 8Cole vs Kluber should have been a low scoring matchup but this was anything but. Kluber couldn't get out of the 1st inning giving up 6 runs. Mike Trout led the game off for Daren's Astros with a homer and Jose Abreu added a 3 run shot in the inning. Ozzie Albies cut into the lead with a 3 run homer in the second. In the 5th inning the Astros got a Nolan Arenado RBI double and Ohtani 2 run homer. J.T. Realmuto and Arenado got RBI hits in the 6th and the Astros had a 12-4 lead going into the 9th. Andrew McCutchen hit a 2 run homer in a 4 run 9th inning but the lead was too big and the Astros got the win. The win gives the Astros the split in the season series against the Mariners. Billy's Orioles 11 Eddy's Royals 5Pitching wasn't the highlight of this matchup but Billy's bullpen pitched 3 scoreless innings while Eddy's gave up 6 runs which gave the Orioles the victory. Ronald Acuna led of the game with a homer and Mike Moustakas added a 3 run homer in the 1st inning to give the Orioles a quick lead.
